Legal people to use when buying property

Hi,

My wife and I have recently viewed a property to buy in the Cocentaina area and have met with the owner etc. He has shown us copies of land deeds and some council tax receipts from 2008 and all seems above board, but we would like to get some advice from somebody official before committing. Can anybody recommend a legal person or solicitor within Cocentaina that could help us regarding making sure the sale is legit with no hidden costs or outstanding bills against the property?

Hi Kimmy11,

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply.

We are looking to purchase property in the countryside and it sounds like we are in a similar position to yourself. The guy selling has never lived in the property and was slightly sketchy with some of the information. Although he assures us that the only thing outstanding is a €70 water bill.

We will hopefully be traveling back to Spain in November to proceed further. So hopefully somebody here knows of somebody before then.

Thanks Kim, that's awesome. Thanks so much for taking the time to find this information for us. I'm flat-out at work so haven't managed to look into it much myself. If we ever get out there, we definitely owe you a drink or three (that should entice the others on the forum to help out too 😉).
