Helllloo  This may be a ludicrous query to some. We are looking to purchase a mobile home to holiday in and hopefully eventually retire to. We will be holidaying as much as possible with our daughters and I just wonder how brexit will affect our plans and if this is financially viable now.

I have noticed a lot of mobile homes going up for sale and wonder if this is the reason. Any advice or thoughts are greatly appreciated

Many thanks

Hello Angie, Spain is always going to need tourists, whatever happens with Brexit, and Brits, at @ 24%, are the top of the list. The Spanish government are making all the right noises, discussing keeping things as close to how it is now, for the future, wanting to keep visa free travel  and reciprocal health care etc. Of course nothing is guaranteed, but buying a mobile home in the short term for holidays, shouldn´t pose a risk as long as you accept property doesn´t rise much in value and mobile homes may depreciate and will probably come with monthly community fees. There are always lots of all types of property for sale here due to over supply. In my opinion, the same reasons will determine the fate of Brits permanently residing here and those wishing to relocate in the future as it is too good an income for Spain to wave goodbye to. As long as we immigrants bring more to the economy than we cost, I can´t see much changing.
March 29th is fast approaching so if you are totally risk averse, 2 more months is not going to make much difference to the price of property so you can afford to wait and it gives you a bit more time to get the location right for you and yours.
We moved over 18 months ago and have never looked back, apart from our first winter before we had a chance to install a full heating system because once that beautiful sun goes down, so do the temperatures, something to think about before moving over full-time.
All the best.

Cheryl

Why are you considering buying a mobile home when you can buy an apartment for the same money and have something which appreciates rather than depreciates!   Please consider your options before deciding.

Regards

Richard

I agree with your comment on buying an apartment but do not expect it to appreciate in value, there are thousands of Bank Repossession Properties here in Spain and many new builds, it is very much a buyers market and will be for years to come.

Thankyou Richard. I think the mobile home option is more appealing to us because of the private outdoor space that the plots give you although I will definitely have a look at other options. Thanks again .

I'll take a nice mobile home over a nasty noisy shoebox apartment any day

A mobile home is not really a property in Spain, it's a personal possession which can be bought or sold like a car or a piece of jewellery which is poentially a major advantage if you intend ending your days here and don't want to leave property headaches for your survivors.

You can of course also relocate it elsewhere so hard to see many significant downsides.

We purchased a mobile home at The Palms El Realengo Mick Rimmer from holiday homes made the buying process easy and straight forward .

We holiday here for a couple of years and now moved permanent the big advantage no worries when your place left empty you have helpful neighbors keep an eye on your place while your away .

While looking to buy all properties had small garden or no garden concrete jungles here we have beautiful garden with fruit and palm trees
