Great to receive Ch4HD on Freesat as of a few weeks ago (was it already available in non-freesat mode??). Anyway what I notice is that when watching Ch4HD the volume control / setting on the freesat box has no effect on the volume. I have to switch to the TV volume control in order to turn up or down the level.

Now, afaiaw, this didn't happen previously with any other HD channel. Now since the arrival of Ch4HD they all have started to act the same way.

I've tried to change as many 'sound' settings in both the Humax and TV menus. I've seen some old postings on this subject on various forums. But what puzzles me is why Ch4HD has triggered it and not the other HD channels by now?

Also no one has been able to suggest a fix other than fiddling with the sound settings and hope for best..

When I change channel to a HD channel I hear a brief sharp 'cracking' sound.

Thank for help.

John.

Are you using a sound bar or external amplifier?

Is this connected via HDMI or optical?

Are your settings on the Humax box set to Stereo or Multi channel?

I can an change the audio levels fine on C4HD on my Humax, on both TV and external sound bar, so it is some "quirk" with your system some where.

Yes, C4HD has been available in "non Freesat mode" since it left Freesat in 2018 (?)

The humax is connected to the (sharp) TV via just hdmi cable nothing else.

On my humax menu the choice is either 'mono' or 'syereo' - nothing about 'multi channel'.

And then DD on or off. And lip sync adjustment.

The TV does have a lot more settings, surround sound and something called DRC - so it could be due to these. Unfortunately I like the results as they are now but I may have to go back to a more 'basic' sound setting.

Thanks.
