HI All,

Having been unable to visit our home for almost 2 years i now realise how bad our Bank in Spain for over 15 years (Banco Santander) really are .

Impossible to contact from the UK,very un helpful and nothing can be actioned unless you attend the branch in person, and it looks like there fees have increased quite a bit since i last checked .

Can anyone recommend a bank who offers good service to non residents and will allow sterling transfers and on line access please ?

Thanks

Hi....Whilst not a Spanish Bank have a look at Wise (formerly TransferWise) https://wise.com/

Many of the forum members use Wise and recommend them.

Hi, I changed our bank in 2019 from Sabadell to Cajamar Bank. Its a people's bank(not for profit) and you join as a member, then open an account. Its online "weferrent" account is excellent, no fees even for non residents. You can't open online, need to be in person in branch. I have written many replies to members and will find such in Banking. Google their website too, don't think you,ll find another fee free bank for non residents without conditions.

Hi - we are with Cajamar and there is a branch in Guardamar - they have online banking although no app for UK mobiles. Be careful with the fees, we pay 150 Euros a year for debit cards and mtnce charges although typically only a handful of transactions a month go through. We were asked to visit a branch which is a bit difficult at the moment to discuss they've crept in over the past 10+ yrs... Apart from that they speak English and are helpful

Hi Steve

I was stunned when I read your reply as we have the weferrent online account and haven't paid a cent in fees since March 2019. We also have the weferrent app on our phones(don't use pcs now). We don't py for our debit cards either and we are non residents. You are lucky to have an English speaker as my branch have none. I suggest you go in and change whatever account you have to the weferrent one. We had to go in and ask for "transfers" to be set up, no problem you just need it to be contracted. More paperwork then done. The app on downloading is in Spanish but on left side top is a list of options, one is available in english. Hope you sort it out.

Regards

Pauline
