It depends upon the complexity of the device. The Gardena ones vary from around 50 Eu and upwards.
We have five watering controls ( no,we don’t have an estate, it’s to do with the rural layout, forestry and the diabolical water pressure!) all by Gardena, they seem to work and no problems.

I bought Gardena Easy Plus from Leroy Merlín for €41.99. You also need to buy a battery. Very simple to use.

Be careful, especially if buying one of these devices (Gardena?) to irrigate your garden while you're away. The previous owner of our apartment totally flooded out the roof and apartment, his own and the one below, using one of these devices attached to the mains tap, which failed. (due to hard water). He was away for a few months and I understand his water bill was a little excessive.
Far better to have an irrigation tank in the garden (on the roof) so that the max volume of water can be calculated in advance. We use a 12V caravan pump to irrigate our garden while away, using an old car battery and a 12V switch.
