I didn't expect my first post in here to be my last.

My partner and I have been renting holiday villas in Denia and environs for a couple of years and decided we'd like to buy. With a budget of €650K we thought we'd be able to find somewhere that fitted our (not particularly onerous) needs, but it seems our project is not to be.

Six-weeks in and a couple of dozen viewings later and its obviously not going to happen.

I've not posted in here before, but I've got a lot of useful information from the forum, so thanks for that.

I'm surprised that you couldn't find a suitable dwelling, but don't give up. If you continue to take holidays here you never know what will turn up in the future.

This is not the tiime for buying properties, wait to Nov-Feb.

Unfortunatly we've decided to go another way. One of the major problems was immos send us to entirely unsuitable properties. I certainly won't be making special trips to be shown properties that are not even close to our specification.

Pity, we were very enthusiastic at the beginning.

As Elinspain said, if you explained a little more about the difficulties you've experienced, perhaps people can offer solutions. There is a wealth of experience on this site.

With the budget you've indicated, I can't imagine what problems you've faced. People should be snapping your hand off.

EDIT: you've said a bit more since I originally posted. If I were you, I'd start by doing your own internet search, something like "properties for sale in Denia". It will throw up sites like Rightmove, Kyero, Idealista etc. Then put in your spec in the search filters on each site. I'd be surprised if that didn't throw up 20 or 30 properties to consider.

Don’t let your bad experience with Immos put you off purchasing your ideal home - as HerefordJack has said, there are other ways to seek out properties. If you see something on line, contact the estate agent to see if it is still for sale. If so, arrange a viewing to see just this property, and don’t fall for them wanting to show you others on the market that may not meet your requirements.

Hi Stolzy,

I've just done a quick search on Kyero for a detached property in Denia and environs, priced between €500k and €600k, and it returned almost 12,000 properties. Perhaps it's something to do with how you're defining "not particularly onerous needs"?
