As earlier mail stated from our esteemed colleague. For you as a UK passport holder to get residency in Spain, there are different Visa routes you can take.
1) NLV (normally for retired) NO Work permitted. Granted for one year, thereafter 2 year applications, You can change to apply for work vusa or self employed visa ( difficult to get)
2) Work Visa: sponsored by Spanish company (not self employed person, company has to be A valid Enterprise of some standing) these visa's are near impossible to get.
3) self Employed Visa. You havevto have a valid business plan and show hiw you are going to employ spamish labour. You have to be registered for Tax and NI and a whole load of other requirements. (Difficult to get)
4) HQP permit. (HIGHLY Qualified Person) Again to be sponsored by Spanish company. Be degree educated (minimum is first degree) from recognised and internationally approved University. HNC/HND not accepted. (Very difficult to obtain)
Hope this helps, your choices are limited and heavily restricted. Applicable to post brexit applicants or pre-brexit applicants who did not register intimescale given.
