My wife Carol and I are visiting Denia on holiday in April 2024. We are hiring a car from Alicante Airport and driving to Denia. My wife has a walking disability and we have a U.K. disabled 'Blue Badge' which when displayed enables us to park in Disabled Parking Bays close to amenities. Can you please advise us if we can use her U.K. Blue Badge when in Denia next month?

Thank-you, Ian Marks

UK disabled badges are not recognised in Spain. Some councils do allow them to be used but not many so you'd need to check with the local police in Denia.

The UK government has suggested you download this page and place it next to your disabled badge. It is not a guarantee of being accepted, though.

Disabled Notice

Also be aware that if you see a disabled sign with a number plate underneath, that space if for that particular car only and cannot be used by anyone else.

Spot on. The U.K government has failed to negotiate any concessions to allow use of UK Blue badges after Brexit. It´s only been nearly 8 years. You´d think they didn´t care about their disabled citizens. I just hope you didn´t vote for Brexit so you don´t feel deceived in any way.

In Dénia now. Went into Police Locale station and they said I COULD use our UK Blue Disabled badge. No need to display anything else (including time of arrival clock which we often need to display in UK), just the badge itself.
