Why would he need a visa to get an NIE? He says he visits several times a year and makes no mention of being a permanent resident. You make it sound as if you can't get an NIE without having a visa which is totally false.

Right, to get an NIE you need to complete an EX15 form and make an appointment. This appointment can be at a UK consulate or at a National Police Station in Spain. ...

...

If you prefer, you can get a gestor to do it for you or there are many companies who specialise in completing these for you on your behalf. I don't know Campello but if you Google for it I'm sure many will come up. Do not use a solicitor as these can be very expensive.

But you do not need to obtain a visa to apply for an NIE.

As a non resident living in the UK, I think applying at a Spanish consulate in Britain would be the best way to go. Getting an appointment at one of the offices in Spain for any document application is very difficult unless you employ an expensive gestor. As you said, you can do it yourself for peanuts. I did it in London five years ago. Tell them you want to buy a holiday home. And a good tip, get there early!

Talk to Cristina Torres. She has her office directly opposite the tram station in El Campello. She speaks excellent English and is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about these matters.

Hi, good morning Brian

Thank you, that’s exactly the kind of information I was hoping to obtain. I’d much rather have a good recommendation. I know exactly where you mean. I think the office must just be around the corner from the Supercore.

Many thanks

Rick

Hi, Ricky. Yes, just on the corner of the next block along. You can view her website here - ctgestoriasolicitor.com

Best to give her a call to make an appointment.

We got our NIE's by visiting the Spanish Consulate in London and Cristina helped us sort that out.

Good luck.

Good morning, thanks for the reply. I knew that I don’t need a visa for a NIE number. A Gestor though is a good shout that hadn’t crossed my mind tbh. I’ve just emailed one in Campello to enquire. I’ll not be using a solicitor and paying 400€ odd for something that’s essentially 9.40...

... tax to pay at the bank and get that form stamped. I can download an English version of the EX15 form to fill out the Spanish one. So I might just have a go, get everything together copied with my photos and when I arrive next month I’ll go to the police station and see if they can give me an appointment during my stay. With it being that time of year and Campello not being what I’d consider as overly touristic I might just be able to wing it…… lol For banking I have looked at Wise.com which actually does on the face of it look quite good. I’m not sure, but I think also it has a correct IBAN that will allow SO/DD’s etc so that community fees/SUMA can be paid.

Cheers

Rick.

I paid 250 for a lawyer to manage, so not quite the 400 you shared but you might get it a little less with a gestor. It was also my understanding you had to have a NEED for one to obtain it. You needed a long term rental contract, a signed offer on a house etc. It was described in more than a few places you won't be issued one just because you want one, and that was true in my experience. I would ask others if they have been issued one in your circumstance over the last couple of years. P.S. the process with the lawyer was smooth and no effort on our part so well worth the small fee.

Hi thank you.

I did look at mynie, but I was very wary thinking it could be some sort of a scam. So good to know that it’s not if your son used them. I’m inherently sceptical of all these kind of things online.

Many thanks

Hi good evening,

I’m new to the forum and I was wondering if anyone may be able to point me in the right direction of someone local (in El Campello ) who could possibly help me navigate my way to obtaining a NIE number. I’ve no idea which police station to apply for an appointment and my Spanish unfortunately...

... is not anywhere near a level of form filling….  Although I am aware of translations, but I’m also aware get one thing wrong and that’s it, start the whole process again. I’d like to get it right first time. I travel out 6 or 7 times a year and I’m actively looking to purchase a property in the town. With that in mind I’d very much like to have all my ducks in a row ie bank account etc too… so when I actually manage to find the right place I’m all good to go, it would also benefit me having a Spanish bank account given the times that I travel to Spain. I’m due back in El Campello during October. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Ricky.

The biggest problem is getting an appointment at the Oficina de Extranjeria in Alicante. The rest is fairly straightforawrd providing you have the documents. PM me and I'll put you in touch with my Gestora, who works for a very reputable firm in the Centro Tradicional in Alicante.

Fake news yet again Killjoy ..!!!!

Can you refrain from your continual scattergun and misleading posts , people are seeking help and assistance here and you continually post incorrect information - either check before you post, or don’t post at all !!

It's not a coincidence he used the name "KILLJOY" 🤣
