We have a transaction on our Spanish bank account that says “ tribute” and has taken 185 euros. At first we thought it was some fraudulent purchase but after a bit of googling we are wondering if it is anything to  do with tax as a non resident. Apart from our solicitor and utilities we have not given our bank details to anyone . We left Spain at the end of August and didn’t have any lettters or notifications or a bill.

Any ideas ? We have had the property since February

Thanks

Sam

Usually the bank issues a supporting document specifying the beneficiary and the reason of the transaction. You will have to find out personally.

Thanks for your reply . There isn’t a document attached , all our other transactions have one . We have phoned the bank three times , each time we have been put on hold whilst they find someone who speaks English and then the call had timed out and automatically hung up

Is it not your Suma tax? Just looked at mine and it says Suma gestion tributaria on my statement. That would link with the word tribute.

I think it is SUMA tax about UNI, that we pay every year for every property.

In this area last day to pay is 5th October

Thanks, would that be taken automatically without a bill or direct debit instruction?

Sam, do you use online banking? I don't know about other banks, but with Bankia I just click on a line entry and if there's additional information this then appears. I agree with the others that it will be your IBI bill.

My solicitor set up the direct debit as with my water and electricity. She did email me a copy of the bill in advance though.
