Throw themselves on the mercy of neighbours I expect. I dont know of any charities you could contact if you were in that position, but someone on this forum may know of some.

The red cross might be willing to help out.

I have to say in the big lockdown in the UK it was brilliant. Everywhere delivered to us. Supermarkets, Butcher, Baker, green grocer, pharmacy, takeaways even fish and chips ! They recruited thousands of volunteers all over the country for anyone that needed help. I was on the vulnerable list and got phoned from Bournemouth council to check I would be ok and if I needed a food parcel delivered. There was a Facebook page set up and anyone needing help just needed to ask. It was still going when I moved here last September. People were excellent ! It's possibly what the British do best.

In the first lockdown Carrefour was nominated by social services in the Torrevieja area as the go to company for deliveries and as someone rightly said Mercadona actually stopped their service.

If you are isolated and desperate ring your policia local as they could probably find someone to help you if you don't have neighbours.

As the original person who started this post is not yet ill,  it would be a good idea for them to get to supermarket and stock up.

Soups. Tinned or bottled potatoes and veg. Tins of salmon or tuna , sardines. Dried potato, pasta , rice. A few sauces. Oats. Long life mk. Tinned fruit. Long life cream.

A 50 to 60 euro investment for peace of mind.

On the plus side if you're so ill you probably won't have much appetite anyway!!

You are right.

It's always smart to stock up for a week or 2 with food that will last for a long time.

Pasta's, rice tomato sauce, canned meat and veggies will last for years, eat it and replace it.

If need be you can go for half rations.

That's pretty good, but what if you are here for 90 days. You go shopping when you arrive maybe get enough for a month even, obviously not perishable, and you contract covid towards the end of the month, but before your next shop.
