Am writing to Jacob Reece Mogg the new Brexit Opportunities Minister to inform him of our lost opportunities and see what he can do about it:   Getting rid of the administration/Customs/Tax charge that we have to pay on goods entering the country plus reinstatement of Barclaycards.  Don’t expect a reply, but I might feel better.

You're right to expect nothing from that cretinous throwback but as far as Barclaycards go that was a commercial decision by Barclays and although presumably prompted by Brexit it was a choice for them alone to make so nothing to do with JRM or any other politician.

Hello

What is the point of Jacob Rees Mogg anyway ???

Cheers

Good luck but don't expect a response! BoJo has probably made the job up to ensure his Etonian, Brexiter friend is close to hand.

I wish the ridiculous pompous smog idiot would just teleport back to where he came from.Brexit Opportunities, they only ever existed for billionaires. The fools that voted for that self inflicted wound have a very special place in hell waiting for them, and the rest of us that didn’t vote for the shambles have to make our lives work around it.

I’ve written, but as has been said on here, I don’t expect a reply…

Just one example of the self destructive power of Brexit for the UK. The stockbroker who I dealt with for 25 years to look after my share portfolio in a nominee account informed me in the summer of 2021 that regrettably they could no longer deal with me as a client based in the EU because Boris's great 'deal' did not cover financial services.

I moved all my business to a European online broker, so the UK broker lost out on annual custodian fees and all my dealing fees going forward. I assume this loss of income has been repeated thousands of times across the UK expat community.

Brexit - a concept created by right wing, little England zealots and voted for by idiots.

I concur with your experiences & your explanations in entirety until your last two paragraphs "Brexit & it´s concept" please refer:

While I never voted for brexit and the folk who did do not really care about you nor I and the consequences because of it. Not bad for me as I possess both British & European passports……

I still believe in the ‘democratic voice’ not once, not twice but 3 votes based on brexit were won by the conservatives. Liberal Democrats destroyed , labour vote smashed to pieces in their century old heartlands …. All based on one mandate….brexit.

while I didn’t vote for it and don’t agree with it… I will in the same breath stand up for the popular democratic voice…. While it may sour your mouth, the consequences of not abiding by a democratic system does not bear thinking about.

Capitalism without socialism equals fascism.

Socialism without capitalism equals communism.

Pay the man, take your choice.

while not a perfect system it’s the best we’ve got.

in any case the brexit debate is well trodden, it causes arguments and  divides the masses, it really has no place on our forum and as this place is a helpful place it may be best leave brexit at the door. In the not to distant past many members were made to exit CBF because of entrenched and argumentative nature, let’s not go back there. The place is a much nicer place since it stopped.
