Hi,

On holiday staying in Formentera. My daughter has what we think is a swimmer's ear infection. Online advice suggests we need to see a doctor to get some antibiotic eardrops. Is there anywhere we could go to see someone today?

Thanks.

With not knowing your area. Medico "should" be open, certainly a farmacia, who may assist. Villas

I am a GP.

If she has had it for less than 72hrs and has no discharge provide Paracetamol / Ibuprofen to control the pain.

Almost all Ear Infections are viral and as such AB drops won't have any impact.

Anecdotally most foreign health care professionals will tell you it is infected and issue you with anti biotics. This is to make you feel at ease athe paying 30-40e for a consultation. Patients walking out with a script feel they got a better service,  than those who don't.  Regardless of whether the script was clinically appropriate

Thank you to the G.P. who responded, have just seen reply- we went to Guardamar and have been prescribed ear drops- only cost just over 3 euros. We've been told to return to have ear flushed out if pain not gone in 2/3 days.

Really appreciate the responses and advice- thank you.

I got this in Croatia, I just went to a chemist who sold me some ear-drops that worked fine.
