Does anybody know where I can buy fresh chillies in or around Gandia / Oliva area. I have tried everywhere and getting chillie withdrawals.

Many thanks

Here in Spain, where hot peppers have relatively few aficionados, there are numerous varieties, each with special characteristics and recipes to match.

  • Pimiento morron. ...
  • Pimiento padron. ...
  • Pimiento piquillo. ...
  • Cornicabra. ...
  • Alegrías riojanos. ...
  • Pimiento choricero. ...
  • Pimiento de Guernika. ...
  • Ñora.

Guindilla simply means chili or hot pepper in Spanish, and that, of course, leads to confusion in regard to these jarred chilies. You’ll find many varieties of chili being referred to as guindilla. For clarification – guindilla peppers, as we refer to them here, are also called piparras.

They can be bought dried (often in markets) & I have had easy success in raising fresh chillies (seeds, small cayena are easy) .

Depending on "heat" have a look at:

Hi,

Don't know if you have any garden centres near your area but all our garden centres down here sell chilli plants that are pretty easy to maintain.

Great guide from Villas! :)

Hi, we tried chillies from various shops mercadona etc and fruit & veg shops, they were never hot enough, way to mild, we did see Scotch Bonnet type chilli on sale at a few markets but can i suggest you grow your own, they are very easy to grow and the seeds can be picked up easily.
