Hi I'm in the process of selling my house and want to rent somewhere long term in Spain. I will be bringing my dog and am looking for somewhere near the beach and somewhere quite lively. Somewhere that is typically old Spanish but with some English people living there who I can perhaps get to know? I know some Spanish but am far from fluent! Any suggestions and help would be appreciated.

Hello,
If you are looking for something tipically old Spanish, but, at the same time, with some English people living there, I would recommend you: Barrio Santa Cruz in Alicante city, Calpe, Altea, Denia, Javea, Villajoyosa, El Campello or Santa Pola.
