We had bought a flat in Denia which has been reserved and if things develop as they should we sign the deed and hand over the keys on april 19. So looking for another flat and quite honestly am having quite a hard time choosing location. We would need an english speaking support group as my husband hated Denia because he could not understand a word even though there are expats. We need more expats around so am considering Torrevieja against everyone's advice and Guardamar. Have never been to either so shall rent something for at least two weeks or a month and it is tuesday april 2nd and still have not rented because cannot make up my mind. A woman's prerogative they say, very unusual for me as I usually am rather quick coming to conclusions.

Guardamar is a lovely little town and virtually everyone speaks English....that's a minus for me because I wanted somewhere more Spanish. You need to try both summer and winter as there is a massive tourist influx in summer and 2 to 3 months when a lot of places are shut in the winter.

I have found that not many people speak English in Guardamar. Where do you go to find virtually every one speaks English? Let me know as I will go.

Virtually all the bars, restaurants and shops. Most of the drs., ( we've been here since 2005 and never needed a translator yet.) If you are willing to learn a little Spanish that helps too and is appreciated. In the summer months there are loads of English and english speaking 'residents'. Just be friendly and you'll be fine.

How do you manage at the Guardamar medical centre as I’ve found they don’t speak English in the reception area.
which doctor do you use? Does he - she speak English?

Some of the receptionists do. At the moment we're with Dr Cava but over the years we've seen at  least 6 different des all with fair to good english.
