Hi Kay

Thanks for your reply. I’ll certainly look at the town as I’d like to mix with Spanish people too but I would also like to have a property with a garden so are there any areas with easy access to amenities?

I’ve only been in Mojacar for a few weeks but I understand it has parking issues in the summer too. Do I definitely need a car or is there good public transport?

Maz

I live in Guardamar (I am Spanish). The town part is so close to the beach (max 500 meters), and you can go walking anywhere. If you choose to live in the urbanitations of El Raso or El Eden you can use the local bus, it is one every hour (maybe a car is better)

I agree about rent for short time to choose better where you want to live. Maybe visit us for a weekend and stay in a hotel.

If you want any recomendation tell me.

Sorry, my English is not the best

Morning Maz,  my name's Elvira. I too just moved to the área (Torrevieja) in July and am looking the same sort of social activities. Maybe we can compare notes? I'm a dog owner too.

Kind regards, E

Hi:

You can not compare easy Torrevieja and Guardamar. Torrevieja has a population of 83.000 people and Guardamar 15.000. Is it better or worse?

In Torrevieja there is more shops, services and things to do. There is more people, cars (really imposible to park in the town area), a house in Torrevieja can be realy far from the beach or the port. Some areas are death in winter and in neighbours comes 15 days in a year.

Guardamar has less shops and people arround, houses are more expensive (only in El Raso and in El Eden you can get a little yard in an independen house). But you can go walking anywhere, the beach is 11km long of fantastic sand and even in summer is not impossible to park (easier 9 month)

I live in Guardamar and sometimes I go to Torrevieja to the comercial shops to buy clothes or something specific.

That is just an oppinion

Difference between a city (Torrevieja) and a small town (Guardamar)!

Hi

I’m currently in Mojácar but looking at relocating to GDS.

Can I have opinions/tips on a mature single lady moving up there....

I would like to volunteer in a dog rescue centre/charity shop... not looking for bars and clubs but love walking, art, dancing and hoping to make new friends.

Many thanks

Maz

Maz, you couldn't pick a safer town to stay. We have been there over 15yrs. A woman can walk down streets and not be threatened. There is a wee charity shop just around corner from the Town hall if you are looking to volunteer. Lots of lovely walks, harbour area, beach and 2 parcs. English pubs are Shamrock, Platform 1, and Hoops, but Spanish bars always very welcoming.

Once you are meeting people here you will find there is a lot of things to do.

Have a look at Guardamar Social Walkers on Facebook. Two/three walks per week.  From gentle strolls to around 10k or more. Great company and a good way to meet people

Thank you. That’s great news as I love walking.
