Hej Les,

Had stuff advertised for sale and people who have taken contact, even someone who said "please don't sell it to anyone else, I'll definately buy it" then they don't come and I have to advertise it again. I think some of the people who advertise their professional services on here could also do with a little more professionalism especially one who shall remain nameless in case it affects her business but reading this she will know who I'm talking about.

The art to selling really is in your control to a certain extent.

If you agree to a sale and time I always give half hour window and if no phone call to say they are on their way forget it.

Never hold anything unless a deposit is paid. You can set up a PayPal account or similar.

I am sorry you experience these problems but we are only in control of our own lives not how others wish to conduct themselves. You do seem down and bear in mind we get what we think about the most so start thinking on positive outcomes and see it all change. After all I can see the lovely positive responses you have had and that is brilliant.

These forums have helped so much. I came here from UK on my own and to have these lovely people helping with their free advice was a blessing.

There will always be the odd ones. Sometimes people get embarrassed to say no after they have agreed to buy or partners say no. Anything. Just use the approach first come first served.

Good luck and embrace this wonderful forum as it is a lovely community.

But the moral of the story is don't hold anything. First come first served.

If they want an item that much they will be round quickly or pay a deposit.

Personally, I don't mind if someone does not fall on their hands and knees and give thanks. I probably would not see it anyway.

I do a post if I think I can be of help and its up to the 'asker' to use the info as they see fit and that's it.

I have not intention for making a living at it.

No one is asking to fall on and hands and knees obviously you missed the point ...

Ie manners cost nothing a simple text or response would be sufficient that’s what differs human beings from animals and even a dog will give you a paw of thanks 🐶

Thanks for understanding my frustration Jim, their behaviour drives me crazy and I'm actually thinking of leaving the forum because  some of the people on it have messed me about so much over the past couple of years, I just feel like I've had enough of ignoramouses.

Anna

Unfortunately not all people bother to thank or  reply they don’t think it necessary  but just thank the people who have help you x

l agree with you too Kim, it doesn`t take much to just say "Thank you" for the help/advice and it`s not just good manners but good communication skills too !  However, there MAY be some who seek advice who are in a state through their personal circumstances and are so wound up in that that they simply forget, it happens too !

Hi almeda11,

Whilst I wasn't the originator of this thread, I agree that circumstances may overtake some people.  For example, earlier this week, I responded to a rather abrupt request for information about sliding mirror wardrobes.  Despite my response, I received an even more abrupt, one word answer.  Against my better judgement, I gave the poster further information to which they didn't respond.  I could have taken offence, but instead, I clicked on their user name to check when they had last been online - the date and time matched those of their one-word response, so I assume they have yet to see my further response.  So whilst information about sliding mirror wardrobes may have been a priority for them that day, it seems to have slipped down their list!

Kind regards,

Kim

I tend to find people sign up to a forum, not just this one, to ask a specific question, get their answer and never return!

I have communicated with people openly on the forum, private message, email and end even whatsapp, in some cases having spent hours sorting out a kitchen design or whatever, then people vanish off the face of the earth!

All this on the back of "I definitely want you to come and do my work on...." So I pencil them in, perhaps I am the fool?!

I dont ask for much, just perhaps a Yes, No or Maybe so I can at least work out if I am needed or not.

I dont believe it will change my approach but it does make me more wary.

@OP - Please dont let the mindless acts of a few put you off. In the main most folk on here are very helpful or very grateful, in some cases both! I have gained a lot of advice on here.

As others have said, dont sweat the small stuff. The people you are wound up about dont even realise you are frustrated!

Hope it helps
