What a really beautiful place is Guadamara my partner and I really like it however our only concern is that it may become too quiet when the season ends ? We are planning to move to the region next year, one of us taking early retirement and one ( Spanish speaking Portuguese) carrying on working,...

... looking to make new friends and take up new hobbies etc, don’t want to be too isolated, we are in the area at the moment and wondered if any one has any suggestions where we might visit ?

Thanks

Jose

Hi Jose

We bought a place in Guardamar last September and stayed until 18th December and we absolutely love it,yes it does get very quiet but we love the beach, the park, the castle, the markets and boot fairs all year round,a lot of restaurants do close because hardley any tourists so not worth their while but there is still quite a selection open. When we want some lively entertainment we drive or taxi to Benimar or Quesada for tribute acts etc. It was still lovely and warm in the afternoon. We went back to Guardamar Feb till end June chilli in the night but days still warm. We love it so much we have decided decided to apply for permanent residency. So what I would suggest is spend a month maybe November to February and go from there. Always happy to meet up for a coffee and chat 😀( please take no notice of Richards negatcomments)

Also lookimg to move to Guardamar in September and go between UK and there, eventually possibly permanently in Spain. My Mother lived in Guardamar for 10 years before passing from cancer in 2014. I agree its very busy in July & August and personally I would avoid it then but each to their own. June is fine as is the rest of the year. I have been visiting regularly now for 14 years so know it well but not lived there full time so interested in any help and advice as obviously living there is very different to holidays :-) I am only early 40’s and more like 30’s so I am interested in the social life , meeting people, as well as the peace and quiet when I want it.

Any advice gratefully received!
