TIE card
We are permanent residents and want to change our Residencia to a TIE card. Has anyone done this yet? If so which Police Station did you go to and what was the cost. Many thanks.

We are just going through the process of changing our permanent residency cards for TIE cards.
We are doing it through the Round Town Travel office. They filled in all the necessary paperwork, paid all the dues to the correct people, took us both from Benidorm to Alicante ( in a very nice Range Rover) helped us through the process and will take us back to Alicante in four weeks to collect our NIE cards and return trip home, €100 each, job done, no worries or effort.
You can do it yourself and save money, if you know how and know where the office is in Alicante as they are not now doing the tie in Benidorm.

You could do it yourselves following Kimmy's excellent guide which you'll find on this website. It's not particularly difficult. You'll need to download and fill out the application and payment forms from the internet. The process will cost you 12€ each, and needs a trip to your bank beforehand with the correct form to pay the fee. You'll need small photos of the correct size, I got away with trimming an existing spare passport photo. Then you'll need to make an appointment on the internet for your police station visit, I believe Alicante is the only one doing them at present but there is no waiting list. Kimmy lays everything out step by step in her guide.
We used Barbara Cobous via Ex pat Services by the hotel Laguna , Dona Pepa, on the Lemon tree road from Guardamar, just further on from El Rado.+ she renewed our padrons also. Her no is 657323109, she came to our house to do the paperwork. Good luck..

Hi , my wife and I did ours approx a year ago. We went to Right Move Insurance on the lower consum square in La Marina urb, but they also have an office in Casada and La Zenia. Like the previous post they make the appointments and take you there and back and it cost us 75 euros per person. Very good service, give them a call for more info. T966 79 78 89 .hope this helps

What is a TIE Card?
Hi Brenda,
TIE stands for "Tarjeta de Identidad Extranjero". It's the residency card that was introduced for UK citizens in July 2020 and replaces the old green residency certificates; although, currently, there's no deadline to exchange it for the TIE. The good thing about the TIE is it's plastic, like a bank card, so much more robust and it includes your photo, so it saves Brits, who are resident in Spain, having to carry their passports around as a form of ID.
Kind regards,
Kim
