Hi there, sorry for opening another post on  electricity and Iberdrola in particular.

On Friday 30 Nov I received an email from them to inform me that my current consumption - the last invoice run until 21 October - was Euro 6.62.

I was dumbfounded.

I told them that I returned to the UK on  19th October and that every time I leave for the UK I switch off the electricity from the mains  !

Their answer has been that since I have a smart meter installed ( can anybody suggest where I would find it ??)  all reading are true.

Apart from ghosts I do not know who else might have access to my apartment . I changed the lock back in June.

Is anybody else experiencing false reading/invoicing from Iberdrola ?

What was your actual consumption in kW?

Remember, you pay for invoiced capacity, meter rental, and maybe, electrical protection insurance, even when your usage is zero.

We're new owners and are with Iberdrolla. We could switch off and not return for months but we'd still expect a monthly bill. It's just the way it is in Spain.....I believe the charges as Kenneth said are standing charges and equipment rental

Yes really! And not for the amount but because iberdrola calls it

Current consumption amount: 6,62 €

"consumption" and not invoice or standing charge.

No sarcasm but positive contribution would be nicer.

You really need to check they are reading the correct meter as we know someone who was  having the wrong meter read and it took phonographs many phone over several months  and a solicitors letter to sort it out!

Good luck.

I'll ask again, if you really want some help! What was your actual consumption? Try posting a copy of your bill and someone may be able to explain it to you. My invoice for November was €15+ and my consumption was 0 kW.

A more sensible reaction to a small bill would also be appreciated. Dumbfounded? Extraordinary.
