Hi
Yes, 3 years I have ginger in my garden (needed to harvest this week). It struggle in clay soil, so it's best to add substrat because it likes drained soil, and rich in organic matter. This year, I try curcuma (cinamon), same care.
I found the main problem is the short season, even in south east spain, so I made some of them in pot. And I starts in febrery with the root indoor (in my green house), and most of them go in the garden in end of may.
In october, it's the end for the outdoor plants, and I have small production. If I would add more fertilizante (compost, humus, etc.) I could have an accelerate growing.
Another point, yes here the sun and temperature are excessive in july-august, so it need regular watering and half shadow, with compagny plants it makes the job.
Did you grow ginger in England ? How do you do ?

Hello
Thanks for your reply and sharing your experience. I was thinking of putting them in the ground and in pots. I think the pots will be a more successful option.
I haven’t tried growing them in England as the weather, especially in winter, make it all too problematic - too wet, too cold - and look forward having some success with them them I move to Spain later in the year.
Thanks again
