Don't we all like those shiny new butano bottles!?

In Jávea its the only type available at the Resol stations (unless occasionally you do find the old bottles)

BUT!

For a shiny new form bottle exchange you'll pay €18.75 (as of 23 Nov last)

AND

For an old type bottle you'll pay €15.35 (as at 28 Dec last) IF you can find them.

THAT'S 22.14% MORE FOR ------------- wait for it ------------- 12kg instead of 12.5kg or 4% less gas.

4% plus 22% means you pay 26% more for the attractiveness and ease of carrying!

NOT WORTH IT I SAY!!

Footnote - look for Repsol stations in the least touristic areas! I use the Repsol on the old La Jara Denia road.

Spot any errors or do you have comments on this?

The gas price supplied in the old ugly bottles is regulated, while in the others are sold at "free market" prices.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Sorry - of course I am talking about Repsol only as I don't use Cepsa (for no special reason). The "shiny new bottles" have a natty blue handle for easy carrying - you can't miss them at the Repsol

Sorry - my post is only about Repsol butano bottles. Propano bottles I believe have a black band around them but look the same as the butano old bottles.

Sorry, AP, I don't understand this. I can't find anything on the Repsol website showing new bottles of 12 kg, only the usual:

https://www.repsol.es/es/productos-y-servicios/gas/sector-residencial/precios-butano-y-propano-envasado/index.cshtml

When I drove past our Repsol petrol station this morning, they only had the normal bottles there.

I'd missed that Ray - getting a bit slow in my old age. On looking up the page, and assuming the images are wrong, then the 12 kg bottle is certainly dearer. Perhaps it's only the 12.5 kg bottles that are price controlled, and it's a cunning ploy on the part of Repsol.

It's in the same link as Jim provided but you have to look hard. The official government price  is there but you have to look hard for the free market (higher) price of the new natty bottles! One of my pet gripes about Spain is badly designed web sites!

I live in Almoradi and on the 10th January I paid 15.33 for an orange Repsol bottle, ordered from their shop in Almoradi and delivered to my apartment door.   It is one of the old style, i.e. it does not have the blue handles.

Too right Jim! Yes the 12.5kg bottles are controlled. The small ones not.
