My wife and I are in our early 60s and are looking to spend longer periods of time in Spain (90 days etc) in rental properties. I can't see us buying property in Spain as we will want to return frequently to see family. We would be looking to spend 600 Euros a month on rental, we could increase that as we have independent income plus will get UK state pension eventually, but don't want to go too high as only two of us and we know from personal experience visitors will be rare. We have just returned from the Costa del Sol but found it a bit too British with lots of Pubs and not so many different Europeans around. Which areas on the Costa Blanca will we find a good mix of Europeans, not too British and likely to find properties (2 bed 2 bath apartments) in our price range ?

You listed Javea as a location. Are you looking in that area?

In my opinion Costa Blanca South has a slightly lower cost of living than Costa Blanca North.

Where I am has a good mix of British and Belgians with a smattering of French,  Dutch, Scandinavian and Eastern Europeans.

There’s very few Spanish, but my nearest town is a five minute drive and that’s 90% Spanish.

Hi, we also decided to rent twice yearly in line with the 90/180 day rule.

Certainly Torrevieja or out skirts would probably fit the bill and budget, as mentioned in my pm you may need to budget around 150 euro per month for electric, maybe more in winter less in warmer months, also internet may not be included so that's another thing to check.

Apartment prices are all over the place, one owner might ask 500 per week while the next might accept 500 a month, keep looking you will find one that suits you, think Spain and kyero are good starting points.

I live near Fortuna and enjoy an international expat community. My neighbour is Dutch, and a few blocks away lives a Scottish lady. Every Saturday there is a casual informal meeting at the market and in a nice group have a beer together speaking 3 or 4 languages at a time. Look here https://www.campingfuente.com

Maybe in one of your stays you can give northern Costa Blanca a try. We moved out here from the UK four years ago and love our life here. Being in an international community is a big part of that.

We've made friends from France, Germany (even been on holiday with them!), Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Poland, Ireland, loads of Brits and many local Spanish. My partner's Zumba group is currently helping and supporting three Ukrainian refugee families who have just arrived in Pego.

I don't know what rental prices are like locally, we've only ever bought a house here. I would recommend Javea, Denia, Gandia and Oliva as lively year round places, though obviously more so in summer. Good luck.

I’m not certain, but from various friends and acquaintances, you may be lucky to find somewhere for 600 per month in Northern Costa Blanca. We ourselves looked some years ago before moving here and we could find nowhere that we thought affordable for our purposes.

However, it costs nothing to look on the Spanish property portals, or the websites of letting agents.

Consider Gran Alacant, has much going for it!
