I have just bought a house in a urbanisation in.Javea, close to the gold course. The previous owner got disconnected from the electricity supply by Iberdrola. I want to connect again and am told that there is no capacity available and I need to connect to a distribution line 450meters away. Anyone has any advise how to go about dealing with Iberdrola, as this seems to be very strange. The house was connected until end of June 2023 from 2007, and now to connect again there is no available capacity??

Should I go directly to Iberdrola, to the city council or …..

Appreciate some advise.

Thanks.

First thing to do is go straight to Iberdrola for actual confirmation on what you can get connected to - who told you that there is no capacity available and you need to connect to a distribution line 450meters away? Do you have any neighbours close by that you can ask regarding their supply?

Hello Steve, thanks for the feedback. We got this info from the previous owner. There are actual meters in the street, seems none is for us....

I will find out some more details on the Iberdrola contact and contact them directly after.

Are their debts to pay, ours was disconnected, we paid the debts which was cheaper than reconnection charges.

Not sure, we found in the mean time the “meter-box” and meter was removed. So guess some debts are there, but why we were told no capacity, through the previous owner, is strange as clearly there was a meter at some point. To be continued …..

Were you informed before you purchased that there was a problem?

I think under new rules estate agents are obliged to inform purchasersof such things and should be able to help you. Go back to them.

Yes, to some extend. We postponed the transfer and got temp connection and retention money to fix this. But it so happened the house got disconnected just before the signing, i have the suspicion that some knew more and hoped it would happen after the signing. Thanks for informing, i will follow up on this after i fix the problem, as i want to get to the bottom of this and ensure this does not happen again to anyone.
