hi all,

just trying to figure out what the utilities will cost per month, electric, gas, water, internet, etc. for a 3/4 bed villa.

I understand it all depends on how much you use it, how big the villa is etc etc,  however I just need to find out rough costs so I know how much to allow for. also appreciate it may be a personal question, but roughly speaking?

any info on how much the monthly outgoings will cost per month will be greatly appreciated.

many thanks.

Ben.

We have a three bed detached house with a pool and air con near Jalon, we gave no gas appliances, we do have a wood burner. Our electricity bills are approx 60e (720e a year), our water is approx 20e a quarter

Hi Snoxell,

Do you live in the villa permanently, or is it a holiday home?

Kind regards,

Kim

Wow that water is cheap - I pay around 25-30€ per month for water  and my electric bills are now 100€  plus per month.

Internet is 25€ a month and worldwide TV costs 80€ per year.

You have on top of that IBI - equivalent of council tax and basura , which is a separate payment for rubbish collection. Both of those are set by the local town hall. Charges can vary enormously between municipalities . If I moved my house 2km down the road into the neighbouring municipality my IBI would be less than half of what I currently pay.

That’s for two of us in a 3 bed villa.

But what we also found this year how much more electricity you use when visitors come to stay. In all the years we’ve lived here we’ve had a steady flow of visitors and maybe utilities bills have increased slightly  whilst they stayed but not  that noticeable. January we had four visitors for 6 days coinciding with one of the coldest weeks of the year. Our electric bill for that month was an additional 75€. Part of that or  so Iberdrola kindly  informed us was because we’d used  an extra 39€ using the washing machine and dishwasher that month. It’s all that extra washing you have to do when you house becomes a B&B for friends and family. So I would also factor in some extra money for that. The first year you move out you’ll have a constant flow of visitors.

That's why I asked Snoxell too, Lynn.  We have a 3-bed, 3-bath, detached villa (house) with private pool and the last quarter's water bill was just under €90, but has been €160 in the summer quarter; typically, it's around €600 per year. Our electricity bill for the last 12 months totalled €1,100.

Kind regards,

Kim

We do have a variable speed pool pump that uses very little power, all our lights are led, our water heater is on a timer and we use the Iberdrola 8 hour plan
