I have my internet and TV package from Telecable.  After some initial teething problems, the internet and TV viewing seems to be OK.  The main problem I have with Telecable TV is the system used for recording and playback of TV programs.  I am trying to assess is this is just an isolated problem or is it a general problem with this method used by Telecable.

The programs are supposed to be recorded to a USB memory stick plugged into the little black TV box.  Selcting the channel and TV program and start and end times is relatively straight forward but when trying to play back the recorded program I generally find that it has not recorded the program at all (the message "Server not found" or "Server unavailable" usually pops up when I select the program from the list of recordings.  Also, quite often, it records part of the program only, not the full program.  This is all quite frustrating and I feel I'm paying for a service that doesn't do what Telecable tell me it should do.

Has any other Telecable TV user experienced similar problems?  How have Telecable responded? Has anyone found an alternative method of recording TV programs when using Telecable.  Any comments, feedback or suggestions would be welcomed.

We don't have Telecable but used a system just like that about 4 years ago when we first arrived here.

We had exactly the same problem, from memory I don't recall us ever getting this problem resolved, we just learned to live with it.

Sorry to be so negative, but that just seems to be the way of things here, we have had 4 different systems from 4 different companies, none of them has ever worked correctly, inspite of the assurances given when they are flogging us the system and taking our money, the phrase " they must have seen us coming" springs to mind.

Are you using a satellite dish for your tv? If so, you may require 2 x cables from the dish going to your receiver to allow you to record a different channel to what you are watching - similar to Sky in UK. If you only have one cable that gives you the signal, you will not be able to record a different channel to the one you are watching.

If you only have one cable/signal input, setting a timer to record, for example Eastenders at 9pm, and you will be out from the house at this time, you will need to ensure that your tv/receiver is left on the channel you wish to record, ie BBC 1
