Hi There,

I'm looking to move to La Marina(house hunting next week),but I'd like to hear from those of you who live there full-time please? Are there many late 40's/50's singletons? I'm an alternative kinda woman and not ready to hang up my shoes just yet(far from it)! I had been looking in Torrrevieja originally but thought I would be isolated there among too many Spanish(learning some Spanish)now,or can anyone suggest another area more suitable? I don't drive so the bus service needs to be frequent and close to all normal amenities including a good/cheap hardware store!!

Thanks guys!

Hi Angie,

Some thoughts from a 50something who has recently chosen La Marina after extensive research, I have decided I want to avoid driving when in Spain so accessibility was important to me too. We chose La Marina as it's close to the airport, lovely beach only 5kms away, a decent range of shops etc.  Yes, it's a massive urbanization but its well kept (mainly) and the demographics seem changing - less Little Britain than it maybe used to be. Close to lovely villages where authentic Spain can be experienced.  Taxis will definitely be required to some extent but cycling to the local villages and beach is feasible.  Age profile seems to be generally mature but noving and we saw all ages when over house hunting.  Weighing everything up we decided it ticked enough boxes to make it worth a go - some great value properties on the market but prices seem tobe rising. Everyone has differently needs and expectations but for what it's worth, I think you should give it serious consideration.  Of course, nothing beats being on the ground and seeing it all for yourself. Good luck!

Hi Colin,

Thanks so much for taking such time to reply to me,it's wonderful to get such honest feedback!I'm delighted! You've given me a great insight to the place and now I can't wait to see it for myself next week! It sounds just perfect for what I'm looking for,and only yesterday I thought of getting a bicycle...I have my eye on a particular property so I'm crossing everything that it'll soon be mine(my dream come true):) I'll let you know how I get on...

I just can't wait now...aren't we a lucky lot? Maybe we can all hook up for drinks one night and celebrate..

Talk soon, and thanks again this is wonderful!
