Why no Post ever Delivered?

We moved into a new build property in Polop / La Nucia back in March this year. We have only ever had 3 letters put in our letter box in that time. However if post needs to be signed for it is delivered. We regularly have to go to Correos and sort through the mail as it is sometimes urgent or important. Does anyone know if when new houses are built in Spain the developer should inform Correos or maybe the town hall does this. Maybe there is a form I need to complete - anyone know about this? I do not want to pay for a PO Box at the post office when I see the Correos motorcycle go straight past our house daily!

A PO Box costs €72 for the first year then €67 per year thereafter and could be one of the best investments you ever make in Spain!

I've never once regretted getting one or begrudged the cost.

Where I live I do have a proper postal address and as it's the one which is on my Padron and residencia I have to use it for certain official matters however it proved unreliable which is why I went for a box and now the staff at the local Correos know me virtually all mail which arrives for me at that address they divert into it.
