Hello.

We are looking to move to Benidorm area in a year or two.

We will be wanting home comforts (villa/townhouse with own pool and garden)

Whats La Nucia/Polop like? Have they got all the amenities and things for 19 and 17yr olds to do.

Looking at these areas as they are close to Benidorm for them to find jobs.

Thanks, Emma76.

Hi,

I live in Benidorm and can give you some good advice but..........

First of all, are you living here in Spain now or the UK?

Do you have UK or Irish passports?

Hi.

Not yet, still live in UK.

We  have UK passports.

Hoping to move in a year or two and will be trying to learn a bit of Spanish.

Thanks, Emma.

Hi again,

To be able to live in Spain permanently you firstly have to apply for a visa from the Spanish consulate while you are still living in the UK.

When you have gained a visa you can then move to Spain and apply for residency.

You cannot just move to Spain now and apply for residency, there is a procedure to follow.

To gain a visa you will need to meet the income and healthcare requirements plus some other documentation that is required.

Here is a link to a site that explains about visas that you can apply for:

https://visaguide.world/europe/spain-visa/

Please ask if you are unsure about anything.

Hi Steve, thankyou for your advice.

I have read about the requirements required to move to Spain now.

I'm hoping that in Benidorm my children (adult children) will be able to find work as its such a big place and also keep them entertained. We would buy a property to rent out for an income. Do they rent out easy there? .

Is La Nucia or Polop a nicer place to live with teanagers? Or can you recommend anywhere else near, where you can buy a villa with pool? Maximum €250.000.

Thanks Steve, Emma.

As you know the income and healthcare requirements for a visa I won't go any deeper in that respect.

Benidorm City covers a massive area but a lot is waste land areas and other areas used solely for residency. In the main part, where you might be interested, near the tourist area and including entertainment like nightclubs etc is fairly limited in size. The aftermath of covid has left many people on the dole and those people who were working full time have got their names on waiting lists for any available work. There were thousands of redundancies in all sectors.

You will need to apply for a visa that will allow you and your family to look for work. Some visas expressly forbid working and would make the visa void.

You could buy property to rent out but there are many hurdles to jump, several licences to obtain and often require permission from the community. Depending on the area will depend on whether its easy to rent out.

La Nucia and Polop are ok places to live but are not as lively as Benidorm. I suggest you have several holidays in those areas to get a "feel" if its suitable. Other areas are just as nice like Albir and Altea which are on local bus routes. La Nucia and Polop are awkward to get to on local buses.

As Steve has said there are new rules, I think the non lucrative visa means just that, you can't work here and I assume the same applies to your adult children.

Some EU countries offer a golden visa but my understanding is you need to be able to invest circa Eur 500k in a business or property, I'm not sure if that can be financed or needs to be fully self funded.
