Hi All,
Can British Citizens / British nationals have more than one passport?  e.g. Belgian passport and/or Spanish passport?

If yes, can I apply for Belgian nationality/Belgian citizenship even though I have left Belgium?  My husband is Belgian.
As a British citizen I resided (worked, paid taxes) for 30 years in Belgium.

Why does every document required by the Spanish authorities require The Hague Apostille stamped seal?

Surely it will depend on the rules of the Country you are wanting to apply dual nationality for.

In order to claim dual British and Irish citizenship avoiding any residential qualifications you have to be able to prove that the applicant has a Grandparent who was born on the Island of Ireland.

This link will provide you with information about dual nationality:

Hague Apostille:

This is because the Spanish administration must verify that it is an official paper issued by a valid institution in your country. If your country is one of the countries that have signed the Hague Convention, this legalization process is made much easier by means of a stamp (the Hague Apostille).

Unless you plan on taking up Spanish citizenship I see no reason why you could not hold multiple passports.

Encountering problems with all the formalities.
Thought it might be easier to complete all the legal formalities, and later still receive my UK pension and Belgian pension.

In order to be eligible to apply for Spanish citizenship and consequent passport, you must have lived here legally for ten years. You must be reasonably fluent, be familiar with history and customs and swear allegiance to Felipe.

Friends of ours completed this last year, after initial application, the procedure took three years.
