Thank you for the update Ray .  We are flying into  Alicante and staying in Cabo Roig.   As I understand it there are no cases of the virus in that area at the moment .

There are no cases in the area at the moment, it just needs that one person to change that, could that be you? After all not everyone dusplays symptoms.

Some facts (I think):

Spain numbers have shot up: 25% so far today over yesterday. Spain now has the most infections in Europe behind Italy, with new infection rates growing at the fastest of any country on the planet.

Is it true Spain only started widespread testing today? Opposed to only testing those showing up to a health centre with symptoms?

Either way, putting all the discussions about the safety of planes and how the virus is spread aside, things are not looking good.

Anyone due to travel to Spain soon has a hard decision to make. Most likely those not due for a month or so will have that decision made for them. I'd say the prudent thing is to not travel. Or travel and self-isolate for two weeks after returning, including not using public transport to get home from the airport.

I’ve just had to cancel our trip to Spain later this month as my wife has serious underlying conditions that would have been exacerbated and probably fatal if she contracted Covid-19. We are both in our 70’s so are effectively in the ‘at risk’ group for fatalities. We decided not to risk travelling as mingling with people at the airport, onboard the plane and out and about in Spain could have serious consequences. The surrounding areas of Gran Alacant, were we have our property, have a considerable amount of people from Madrid visiting their residences and unfortunately could be spreading the disease unnoticed. Better to be safe than sorry and burdening the health system in Spain which, if the infection spreads the same as has occurred in Italy, will not cope. 🥺

Can I say that it is re filtered in aircraft but like hospitals it goes through a medical like filter before it comes out again. You may catch from someone next to you but not from aircraft . This is 100 percent as part of British midland training

My concern is the travel restrictions, I personally would still like to get over in Easter and May but i fear the airlines may be forced to cancel a lot of flights like Italy - leaving me with no choice
