My neighbour sent my spare car key by Correos Express to my U.K. address on 22November for delivery on 24November. The postage cost 36€. Needless to say it’s not arrived. I get no joy when speaking to Correos except to say it should be delivered by Royal Mail. The Spanish tracking can’t be recognised by Royal Mail. The tracking App I have informs me delivery is being tried every day but cannot be completed due to “an incident”. It’s a Mercedes key and replacement will cost 420€.

Has anyone had experience of getting compensation from Correos?

If UK part of delivery is being handled by Royal Mail, somewhere there has to be a record of the relevant transit numbers. What do Royal Mails actually tell you about the apparent inability to deliver? There has to be a contact number on their website or some help function!

Well tbh I don’t know if the UK delivery is being handled by Royal Mail, Correos said it was, but haven’t provided any tracking other than their own. No cards have been left by any courier service to say that delivery has been attempted. I can see from the Correos tracking that they have the package going from Orihuela Costa to Kent. All my details are correct.

So when I’m back in Spain next week I want to have a plan and approach Correos for compensation.

Good luck with that. But the tracked parcel must have been logged into the Kent RM depot with a record. I would be contacting Kent and insisting they traced where the logged information is, I think you’ll get more joy that way. Although Correos are helpful on the phone and I believe have multilingual operators.
