You can always cancel the private medical cover once you have secured cover under the S1. Insurance companies will refund for unspent months after deducting a small administrative fee.

Thanks, not sure whether the administrate fee will be almost the same as remaining months prems but worth a try.

It's definitely not or wasn't I'm my case when I cancelled mine!

The reason why you have to pay a years up front on your insurance is so no-one does as you are suggesting. They sussed that one out long ago!!

No, you can apply for healthcare via the S1 scheme when you have legal residency and a Spanish address. You can use the S1 healthcare cover for your NLV renewal.
