Stacey

I have to agree with Diedre.

I have an apt in La Florida and I can run lots of items on the 3.5 tariff without any trips, oven, fridge/freezer, tv, lights, kettle all at once with no issues.

Try switching things on one by one but not the oven, it may convince you that your tariff can handle what you need it to.

It sounds as though you have a fault on either the oven or your consumer unit, get an Electrician in to find the fault, upgrading your tariff would be more expensive in the longrun and the fault would still be there.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

In all the 15 years that I have lived in Spain I have never had a problem with my electricity and I use a fire (occasionally), oven, hob, floor sweeper, fridges, freezer, tv, boiler, shower, lights, toaster, microwave, dry-fryer and, at times, air-con.

You have provided the answer yourself.  If you are getting spurious tripping it's standard practice to switch everything off then bring them back on one by one.  The one that trips it is your culprit.  You have a fault on your oven electrics.

It could be on the control side or the element itself.  At an educated guess it's the element.

If it’s your RCD that is tripping i.e. the one with the blue test button then you have an Earth fault, nothing to do with overloading.

How old is the cooker , mine started tripping,  was installed when apartment was new , probably 14 years old , so put new one in , then hob failed,  put new one in , then washer,  sounds like yours is at end of life!

Check your Electricity bill and check what wattage you have coming into the property, we had the same problem and had to arrange to up the wattage, but with that comes a higher standing charge.

We upped our wattage but still have problems .

Spurious tripping is nothing to do with how many kW your incoming supply is.

Tripping will be caused either by a fault in one of the appliances or overload.

These RCD breakers do a good job in preventing shocks, but they really can be a real pain .

What a carry on! This has happened to us regularly over the years. The first thing I learnt many years ago is to have the torch close to hand. Nowadays, your mobile phone will provide the light you’ll need to see into the fuse box.

Something is causing your electricity to cut off. Last month it was our water heater and we had it replaced and no more power cuts. Occasionally, when I am cooking and the air con is heating the room, the oven is on, the kettle as well as all the items connected and running eg fridge freezer, tv, lamps, the lot , our power will suddenly go off. I simply switch the aircon off or the kettle and suddenly, the power goes back on.

I think your cooker may be the culprit but you’ll need a professional to check the problem.

Please try NESTOR who is a qualified electrician , plumber, heating expert and electrical appliance repairs man q as well. Speaks fluent English and affordable. Telephone him on 622334357.

Although many of the pieces of advice given could be pertinent to the question put by Stacey, the only definitive way of rectifying the issue ,is for a competent Electrician to carry out an Inspection & Test , diagnose the precise nature of the fault, and carry out rectification.

Hope that helps.!

Got to agree with Lesthesparky.

Our oven kept tripping the rcd box, we called Amps local Electricians ( Daniel Snell ) who stays near La Florida, he sent one one his guys round was sorted within 30 mins.

It turned out the oven was full of condensation, as it hadn't been used for some time, once dried out no more problems.

I think I was charged around 25/30 euro, I've used Daniel a few times and found him to be a good guy.

All the best Everyone for 2021
