Check your Electricity bill and check what wattage you have coming into the property, we had the same problem and had to arrange to up the wattage, but with that comes a higher standing charge.

Hello. You do not mention what cooker. The average is 2.3 kw usage. I disbelieve the electric supply to your house is that low. Throw the cooker away and buy a new one. The cooker elements either one or both will be faulty causing the electricity to trip out. You can purchase new elements however time, fuel, etc adds up. If you are not convinced by my reply, disconnect the cooker. Plug an extension lead in then load the circuit with an electric heater, DO NOT EXCEED 3kw due to the lead. If the electricity does not "trip" out to reiterate replace the cooker. My Regards. Jonathan Redhead. Benferri.
Thank you all for help I've looked on bill and am on 3.5 wtts so I shall have to up the wattage

If your sure everything else is unplugged and this only happens when you put the oven on i suspect either the oven or the oven wiring is at fault.

Most probably the heating unit has a shortcut (due to dilatation after warming up. A "technician" will take around 100,- to exchange that unit. DIY is quite simple and would cost you less than 20,-.

I genuinely think it’s an issue with the oven and not your wattage. We can run at the same time -tv,sky box, phone charger, lights, air conditioning(one unit) kettle and oven rings all on 3.5kw-it’s only if we put the oven itself on on top of all that that the electric trips. Turn oven off and see how many appliances you can run-I would say if more than 5 problem is your oven. To increase wattage requires an inspection certificate which may cost more than new oven!
Hope this helps

There is alternative site you could ask the question on, but I’m afraid Ray D would just say that some how you must have ended up with a British oven. He hasn’t changed, has he!.

If it’s your RCD that is tripping i.e. the one with the blue test button then you have an Earth fault, nothing to do with overloading.
