I have just received my Suma for my Landrover. The advice I need is.

The car was written off in accident at the end of February when someone ran into the side of the car. The car is still in my name as the paperwork has been sent to a scrap company and the car has not been picked up yet from the garage. All was arranged by Liberty Seguros. What do I need to do to inform the Suma office and what happens about the tax payment. Obviously the car was on the road January and February and since the end of February in the garage for assessment by Liberty Seguros. I am not sure if the Suma offices are open yet as we are still in Phase 0 til Monday.

Thanks Stuart

I think you need to give Liberty a kick up the bum, to get the car removed to a scrap yard.

The alternative is to arrange that yourself - provided they've paid out on your claim.

Once it's been officially scrapped you can apply to Suma, which means you only pay for three months periods.

The following might help:

I agree Jim, but the scrap company (who I have never heard of) A2B visual are using the excuse of the Coronavirus lockdown as the first excuse. Bad timing. Then a courier, who was to collect the paperwork, couldn't find the garage where the car had been taken to, in the middle of Alicante 3 times. A2B are in A Coruna, so Northern Spain. We had til the 15th April to accept their offer and this was done. The accident was the end of Feb. The garage kept saying it would be repaired, but the rear wheel was pushed back and airbags deployed, so no way it was going to be repaired, not that I would have wanted it back after the extent of damage on a 4X4. I have had to pick up the paperwork myself and courier it over to them. Not a very good system I'm afraid in Spain. I have been paid out the Insurance money, but the scrap value comes direct from the other party. This is probably one of the few good systems back in the UK. The insurance company pays out and they get reimbursed for the scrap.
