Hello, we’re thinking of moving to Valle del Sol - Rio Park Mutxamel perhaps very soon.

How cold in winter does it get? Do you spend a lot on heating? How hot in summer? What are the main environmental health problems of this area?
Are there many expats in the area ?

What’s it like to live there?

Much to do? Horse riding? Entertainment? Expat clubs?

Many thanks, Mel

Just so we know where you are coming from......
Where do you live now?
What passport do you hold? If from the UK are you aware of the NLV process?
Have you visited the area before?
What draws you to this particular urbanization?

Thank you, it saves a lot of time explaining everything!
There is not a lot of activity on the forum from that area but you might be lucky. The only thing I would say, just from looking on google maps is that it is obviously in a valley and quite flat with a barranc running close by so check the history of flooding from Gota Frias.
I live inland on the Costa Blanca South  and yes, it does feel very cold indoors or out of the sun and although we have not had frost yet where we are, just a small distance inland, and higher, they have.
I hope you get some more local knowledge or it might be worth taking a trip down, especially at this time of year when you will see it at its quietest.

Hi, i live in Valle Del Sol we are residents and lived here for 16years.
It's quiet, mainly holiday homes but still enough residents. One small cafe at the airport. It's around 25mins to Alicante airport via backroads. There are no facilities here re-shops etc so our nearest is El Campello or San Juan approx 20mins in car, where we usually shop. Important factor is there is very little if any 'crime', during our time here we have had none. There are horse riding close by within ten mins.
One advantage is there is only one road into the Valley. We love it. Any other info e-mail me. Good luck.
Mick.

Hi,

We have a holiday home on Bonalba Golf & Spa (18 years) which would be about 15 mins from Rio Park. On Bonalba there is a 18 hole golf course, hotel, padel courts, bowling club, play areas for kids, 7 restuarants, 2 bars, take away pizza + restuarant at hotel, clubhouse/ bar restuarant at golf club. There is also an outdoor swimming pool open during the summer with a waterfall and slide.

To expand on the previous reply this is a lovely area to live or visit and there is numerous places around although the previous post only mentioned 2. So from Rio Park there is Mutxamel a town (Spanish) with numerous bars, restuarants, a park, loads of supermarkets and a small fresh food Indoor market. They have many fiestas.

Just up the road towards the mountains is Busot, a very spanish old village, just after the new developments with restuarants and bars. There are also caves here for sightseeing & a Rasto Market.

Moving down towards the coast you have El Campello to the left and San Juan Town and San Juan Beach  to the right - but the 2 San Juan's are not connected and are considerably apart. This was our first experience 18 years ago, walking for ages around the sea front area looking for San Juan Town!!! Both have fiestas.

San Juan Town is large with numerous restuarants, bars, supermarkets, cafes, tapas & bars. Market day on Wednesdays

El Campello was an old fishing village and is now a large town again split into 2 halves. The seafront with Marina, a fish market every evening, promenade bars, resturants, some shopping and then up the hill lies the town. Market day is a wednesday. There is an English Speaking Club with many nationalities as members.

Now the promenade and beaches run continously from El Campello through several areas to San Juan Beach approx 6 kms ?? Beaches at El Campello are more like bays an,d the beach along San Juan is wide and flat with shallow waters.

If you take the main road from El Campello towards Alicante there is everything you need from Mercadona's, Large Carefour, furniture shops, car showrooms, gyms, too many and too much to mention.

When you get to Alicante again there is the old town - near Castle and the newer town (City) plus a huge Marina. Bus Station, Railway station and everything else. Alicante is mentioned in many reports as being a hidden gem. Check out the food market here. Very old building (enourmous) on three floors.

From Alicante there is a tram which runs along the coast, past San Juan, El Campello to Benidorm. We pay about 1.20 each way from Campello to Alicante Market which is in the heart of the city.

This is only a really, really brief resumme of the area and after all these years we still love coming back. There are so many places to visit/explore ( so many I havent mentioned ) or just sit back and relax.

My advice to you would be to have a least a 4 day break in the area and spend every waking moment exploring the places mentioned and many more to ensure that it suits you. We are all different and like different things.

I assume you must be spanish speaking after 7 years and the whole of this area is predomitary spanish speaking. The area does get busy in the summer months with tourists (like us) but again loads from Madrid and Barcelona.

Have you looked at the webcams on Comunidad Valencia which show several areas.

I hope that this helps. Best of Luck.

Brian
