Just after some clarification. There has been lots of conflicting reports on TIE cards and residency cards for UK nationals resident in Spain.

I have Spanish residency but just been sent this by a friend who is also UK national with Spanish residency.

I know this is a company who are obviously after payment for the service but can anyone advise (Jim) further.

Our translator has told us as far as he knows it is only if there is a no deal Brexit and then it might take as much as 21 months, if there is a deal they won’t be required.

I talked to my Gestor just yesterday to ask, on behalf of an acquaintance, what the situation regarding residencia appointments was and she told me that they had been pretty much suspended until today when TIE's were being introduced, she said nothing about existing residencia holders being obliged to immediately switch so while their message may be correct in substance (we already know that we will probably be required to switch to a TIE at some point in the future) the part about being OBLIGATED from today is either a misunderstanding or simply poorly written.

I'm sure what it means is that from today new applicants will receive a TIE and no longer the residencia case we are all familiar with.

Whether that does in fact mean two visits and a fee of €100 I'm sure we'll discover very shortly!

The switch to the TIE has nothing to do with a deal or no deal, after Dec 31st. Britain becomes a 3rd country for whom a TIE is the standard residence document.

The only thing which could change that is BoJo fessing up that Brexit was his idea of a practical joke and that we won't be leaving at all!

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

I can understand the UK being on TIE list and not residencia for new applications, but what about people who are already resident before brexit.
