In someways it’s actually colder than the U.K. especially indoors. Spanish homes are  not made to retain heat, so in the winter months, it can be a beautiful sunny day outside with temperatures  in the low to mid 20’s

Go indoors and the temperatures can be as low as 10C. Pop the heating on and as soon as you switch it off the room goes cold again.   All those tiled floors make the room feel even colder, so you need lots of rugs, especially for when you get out of bed of a morning.  Central heating &n...

...bsp;is a rare luxury over here.

You’ll spend your first winter buying thermal vests, flannelette bedding, slippers, fluffy socks and fleecy throws. Make sure your property gets some winter sunshine, as Jan-Mar you’ll need to spend as much time outside as possible. Sounds crazy but ometimes when we’ve been out shopping we’ll sit in the car as long as possible, soaking in the warmth coming in through the windscreen.

But hey ho in May someone flicks the switch and there’s nothing better than waking up to blue skies and hot temperatures.

Thank you Lynn.  I don't know why this made me chuckle to myself, because I hate the cold, hence why we want to move to warmer climates.  In fact yesterday, I sat in the car on the drive because it was warmer in the car, with my heated seats.  Then I thought, what the hell and came in and put the heating on for an hr.  Another question for you.  If we did move out, after renting for 3ish mths next March and if say after 6mths of being there and I decided I wanted to work, say 2 days a wk, would it be easy to get a job in an estate agents, or here I sell water softeners, so perhaps I could look into that as I realise yr water is harder than ours.  (Mind you, I could ask the lawyer this).  We are going to chat to one over the next few wks re: do's and don'ts

Hi Gina,

If you move out here on a non lucrative visa you will not be allowed to work as it breaks the rules of the visa (non lucrative)and it would then become invalid,  also making your temporary residency invalid. You would then revert back to being a visitor with the 90 day ruling.

Oops!  I remember reading this, apologies, I just noticed I didn't reply.  So sorry.  We didn't come in Sept and have now booked for the 1st Oct to look at properties.  Do you enjoy living in Spain, or have you regretted it?
