I know it doesn't include loads of drinking and carousing so may be a little boring but, happy St Georges Day to all you English out there.

Meeting dog lovers for walks and coffee - 2 replies
We are an Irish couple with three Standard Poodles who will be returning to Ontinyent in April and would enjoy meeting up for leisurally walks and coffee with English speaking dog lovers. We don't mind traveling to experience dog friendly trails, as long, as they are not difficult, as I and our eldest dog have some mobility issues, which include stairs/steep climbs.
Assistance with Amazon Firestick - 8 replies
We purchased a Firestick for watching UK tv. Plugged it into our smart TV, added the vpn and chose London location. Downloaded the appropriate apps for BBC, ITV etc and thought we were good to go.
We can open the apps and view the content but we can't start any of the programmes as it says we are not in the UK. Can anyone advise if they have had similar issues and how they got over it, or is there anyone out there with a more advanced knowledge and maybe point me in the right direction.
Many thanks

Municipal Policemen, Squatters and Knuckledusters - 20 replies
We've lived on Mallorca for 35 years but we're moving to the Peninsula shortly -- not quite sure where -- hence me posting in THIS forum.
I hope it will help reassure folks about the squatter problems all over Spain.
Our neighbour is German. She was taken into hospital last week and her house is empty.
Yesterday morning I heard suspicious noises from inside the house.
I called a friend of the neighbour who has keys but she didn't pick up.
I called the local Municipal Police and explained the situation. Within 10 minutes, 3 cop cars turned up.
Six cops exited. One went to the front door and started battering. "¡Abre la Puerta! ¡Policia!" he yelled. Other neighbours came out.
What I DID notice in particular was the other cops -- all big guys -- were donning heavy-duty leather gloves as if preparing to use their knuckles.
They looked very much like they meant business.
The door opened slightly as if someone was peeking out.
The cops rushed the door and we could hear a lot of crashing, banging, Effing and blinding in Spanish.
(I speak Spanish. I won't repeat the words here but it was... colourful.)
They dragged 2 greasy-looking gits and one druggie-looking woman out. (All Spanish.) One guy was bleeding from the nose. The other looked scared. The woman was screaming to make sure she got all the attention. (She didn't.)
They played them gently, carefully, lovingly (yeah, right...) in the back of a van. They sealed the door of the house with
Police tape, thanked me and left.
Later, a joiner turned up with another cop car and fixed the door. (It's still sealed. The neighbour is still in hospital.)
My point is they made NO difference we and the neighbour and not Spanish. They were clearly NOT on the side of the would-be squatters.
Just sayin'.
Norm.
Re-establishing contact with an old friend - 1 replies
I wonder if anyone can help me become re-acquainted with an old friend with whom I have lost contact. David Kelly was a retired colleague with whom I stayed in Ostinyent many years ago. Over the years we have lost contact and I would very much like to get in touch with him again. Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated.
Regards,
Ian Evans
