Was just informed by a friend that as of the 31st of March anyone without a stamp in their passport or a visa or residency will become illegal in Spain. The stamp in the passport is a entry stamp form which your 90 Starts .

Yes that is all correct. After 31st March anyone who is not a resident or the holder of a visa is over staying their 90 in 180 allowance.

Do you think anyone will be checking? I suppose if you are driving a UK car in spain you may get stopped but a part from that I don’t think you will.

But you may have an issue when leaving when they check your passport and do not find a stamp

In case of doubt enquire at your nearest "oficina de extranjeria" about an "extension de permanencia".

Didn’t think of that. So do you think if you over stay when you do go to leave they could so you or maybe just prevent you returning ?

Well you could just be slapped on the wrist, taxed, fined, or banned for a certain amount of time to never being allowed back in again,

I have neighbours who have lived here for years, and stupidly still don’t have Residency. He is from Dublin and has an Irish Passport, and his wife is from Uk.

Does anyone know what their restrictions would be please?

If he is Irish he will be ok. She could probably get a Irish passport.
