The attached link is to a report that was on the Schengen news website today.

https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/news/french-senate-supports-automatic-visa-right-for-second-home-owners-from-uk/

More progress towards offering second home owners in France the opportunity to stay longer than 90 days. If France does approve this then it would make sense for other countries, such as Portugal and Spain, to consider similar schemes.

Believe it when it happens but don't hold your breath.

Not to mention of course that it comes from The Connexion a rag well known for publishing rubbish.

The link I posted is from the official Schengen news website, I would have thought they would be averse to printing rubbish?

Personally I'd be happy for UK second home owners to be able to use their properties for longer periods and spend more time (and money) in their second home location, wherever in the EU that may be.

Whilst those owning homes do have a case for being able to stay longer, why only the UK second home owners? Many non EU citizens have holiday homes in Spain and the Americans, now there are direct flights to some places, are buying up quite substantially. But so do the Russians, N Africans and so on. If this rule comes in I can't see a reason for only applying it to those from the UK.

No harm in living in hope but it’s not going to happen.Too many 3rd countries and the Schengen area is reasonably easy to police as it is.If your adversely affected by this I’m sorry but as I always say just thank anyone you know that voted for brexit.

I suspect the reason the French are considering extended visas for UK citizens is most likely because of the number of them that own second homes is far greater  those from other countries you mention. The same in Spain and Portugal.

I hope it progresses for those who have invested in property in the region and want to spend more time in those properties, and for those who will benefit from the extra money that would be spent.

I appreciate your view but I prefer to be optimistic. Having this initiative coming from French politicians is to me a positive.

Very sad for many who make a sizeable investment, never believing we’d leave the EU only to be completely undone by lies and misinformation given by government with there own agenda to the detriment of thousands of people on both sides of the channel, can but hope one day the damage can be undone

It’s going to take a generation but the UK will rejoin as the old gammon fools die off and the lack of tangible benefits become more widely known.Brexit was only ever for billionaires and fools.

Completely agree with some of the comment. Not sure about rejoining though. Good as it would seem the UK would never be able to rejoin on the same terms as we had.
