Hi Wayne & Mel, Thank you for the information.  At last someone has answered our question about areas to live in. Many thanks again, Ann

Hi, my experience in the area is limited, having been settled in Altea for just a few months, but I can share a little. For our move we looked from Javea to Altea inland, where we stopped and settled. From what I can see,

Calpe might suite you  well, good medical services, a nice walkable town, lovely sandy beach and a saline lake, shopping and markets. I see a lot of retirees making their way from town to a casa home just inland, or if apartment living is your fancy, pick the beach or town. It was our preference but we did not find the property we sought.

Many people like Altea town as it is quite Spanish, on the seaside, but I find it crowded and the beach is a narrow rocky area along the promenade. Still, a walking town and many people love it.  It has one of the best markets in the area, lots of restaurants and shopping.

Denia is a more substantial town, having grown from an important fishing village and port.

Also perhaps look at El Albir, lots of apartments, easy to navigate, very close to excellent Benidorm medial facilities.

For prices, we found javea/denia similar, Moraira quaint but expensive and very touristy, Calpe and Altea a little less expensive. If you go north from Javea, you will find more affordable areas (Pego, Oliva, Gandia). From the north of Javea/Denia, you will access the excellent medical care of Denia but might need a car (I think, others may have more information). Sorry, no information about Albir prices. Perhaps visit Idealista spain to have a look.

Cheers, and good luck!
