Skipper, with due respect. I know this is Spain... But when heading out on your own its would be nice to meet other expats for a chat and advise and friendship. Thinking they would likely to be go to an English owned pub or restaurant. I thought being helpful to others would be nice! Especially with ex service people.

Have a nice day?

Hello skipper

This is a friendly, helpful forum & you are neither. Hardly a good welcome for a new poster, & unnecessarily abrupt  & rude

Please try & comply with the forum rules of being welcoming & helpful.

Cheers

Hello

Just a bit of advice Michael...Dont limit your self to English bars/cafes/restaurants, English is spoken by many other nationalities who call this area home & its good fun to chat with others..  I know one  English owned bar in my area & have been in once in 20years, I find  the conversations are limited, the food is a bit dull etc etc, I know the same things as in  UK  are all some people want,  but it's not for me.

I hope you meet lots of people in Alicante that can add to your holiday experience.

Cheers

Hi, I was not going to limit myself to just English bars, just as an initial opener, maybe I could have said it better. I am not really worried about where I go or who owns it. will agree with the dull bit of English bars.. lol.

I am actually relocating to Alicante area and looking forward to meet many people. Only here for a few days this time to start my TIE.

Thanks for the help and advice. much appreciated..

Hi Mike,

The Austin, link at end may be what you are looking for as a start. We tend to visit more local bars but this one's nice and I've heard on the Forum here that its 'the' hangout of ex-pats in the city and certainly always hear english voices when we pass it. It's about a 15 min walk from you and you'll go past Artespiritu Corner bar in plaza de san Cristobel, which we always find nice and friendly too. The area is packed with bars and restaurants so you'll be spoilt for choices. Best of luck.

You're very welcome, we're actually back in Dublin for the first week of Feb, otherwise could have met you for a jar or two but if there's any other advice about Alicante city we could help with, just ask and we'll do our best.
