Good morning, for the last 5 nights we have had a constant chirping/tweeting noise which lasts all night.  It starts at about 9 pm and carries on till about 8 am.
it comes from the roof of our villa, we have two roof terraces which we checked thoroughly.  There are no bird or bat droppings to be seen.

I can’t sleep as it is so loud.  What can be done?

Maybe insects. Crickets, cicadas. From the Google search : use insecticide or collect them and release them to the nature.

Thank you.  I can’t actually see any.  The noise is very loud.

If it's that loud try and record it and post it here, far better chance of identifying the culprit.

The sound may be emitting from somewhere close by, and not actually from your roof terrace area

Thank you.  I will try and record it once I figured out how to do it.

Nobody else in the neighborhood hears it.  It is only there during the night.

Search on Google cricket sound, cicada sound compare with what you hear, just to eliminate these possibilities.

Have you got a fireplace chimney? We do and the birds nest in the top of it  and can make a hell of a racket, or perhaps it’s stuck in the chimney, which does happen

No, no chimney.  Birds are usually quiet during the night.  There is no noise in the daytime, only during the night.
