Good morning, for the last 5 nights we have had a constant chirping/tweeting noise which lasts all night.  It starts at about 9 pm and carries on till about 8 am.
it comes from the roof of our villa, we have two roof terraces which we checked thoroughly.  There are no bird or ...

...bat droppings to be seen.

I can’t sleep as it is so loud.  What can be done?

Hi,

We have had similar recently, identified as a Eurasian scops owl. Google it online and you can get an example of the noise!!

Thank you for replying.  The noise is similar to a bat.  Would it go on for 10 hours non stop?  It has now been 8 nights.

Someone suggested it might be a dead battery from an alarm.  No idea where to look.

Most smoke alarms will make an intermittent tweeting/chirping sound when the batteries have gone flat. Have you got any!

If it was the smoke alarm you would hear the noise through the daytime too ;)

Cricket 100% try and locate it by sound  and  use insecticide although try and capture it and release it away from your house first

I would hate killing anything. The sound seems to come from inside ceiling.

I don’t have a smoke alarm.  We think it is crickets as the noise is constant throughout the night.
