I would doubt it. Does any agent tell you about the possibility of squatters? Does your abogado tell you before signing about the possibility? Does the Notary tell you? Do any of them tell you the Costa is an active earthquake zone? They are there to sell you a property same as in the UK. They don't tell you if the neighbours are a pain. No one tells you if they are going to build a block of apartments on the land opposite. The old bit 'they won't build on there its protected land' until of course they do.

Does anyone know if the place in the Sun TV programme informs prospective purchasers about the squatting nightmare in Spain ???
Asking for a friend
They don't tell you about squatters, but before you go on the show they ring you up tell you about the extra costs involved and when you are filming they do tell you the community fees but it's nothing to do with apits if it's not edited, down to channel 4, we bought last year and found out dream home with them, Jasmin was brilliant to work with

Squatting nightmare is a nightmare if it happens to you...however this site would be a whole lot better if people who actually were experiencing the problem contributed ....otherwise its just blown completely out of proportion...so far I recall just one person doing that and it wasn't actually a real squatting case...everyone knows what you need to do to safeguard as much as possibky it happening..then what to do quickly if it does and if it goes beyond that you will need to go to court and in the end you will win always .

I have told the forum many times about squatters that have been on my Community, 9 instances of squatters in Bank property and 2 in owners homes, both of those were initially renting and then after consulting with the squatters, became squatters themselves as they stopped paying their rent. The bank doesn't care less and every time have failed to help my Community. Just because it might not happen to forum members doesn't mean they don't know about whats happening.
Squatters are a huge problem all over Spain, that is a fact.
It sounds to me that some of you are unhappy with your PITS oh dear . Taking on a holiday home is always a little risky in any country, unless you do a lot of research about the area and surroundings it’s a bit of a gamble.

You are wrong ! ONLY in Spain squatters has full right of staying in what is not them property. Only in Spain the house property is not recognized by politicians and government. In all other countries in EU and not only EU continent this in not permitted. Squatter term is just used in Spain these days. We are talking about present days.
Better buy a holiday house in Portugal, Italy or Greece than in Spain. My opinion.

Wrong squatters have squatters rights in most if not all European countries. You have to take them to court to have them evicted

You are far away of the truth. All the EU countries protect the private property except Spain. Ask, for example, a Portuguese if they have something like this in their country...And they are neighbors!

Try telling that to the landlords in the UK who's tenants have stopped paying rent and can't get them out. It can take up to 2 years with no rent and possible damage to evict them. Maybe get your facts right before posting your opinion.

As far as I know UK is not anymore in EU. I was refering to EU countries and I did not mention UK. Anyway in UK if anyone is breaking your house and is beating you when you show up on the door.. who is getting behind the bars? In Spain you as the owner for disturbing the well being of squatters. I doubt that in UK is the same.
