Hi to you and your partner. I have been worried as you have about the situation at the end of the transition period! I have took advise from a Spanish solicitor and will be coming to Spain on August 4th. I don’t receive my state pension until December 21. So I have a full year rental agreement, the solicitor is taking me to the local police station to get my NIE, I am using self autonomy to get my health cover that will cost round about £60/month plus perhaps another£50 for an accountant to deal with it! After a year I believe the health care goes up considerably but I will only have to pay it till December! I have been working 60 hours a week to get enough money to pay fir this. All my savings will be taken but I will realise my dream as will you yourselves. As you already have your state pension, things should be a lot easier for you both, and  we should all become residents soon . Good luck when you arrive, I will be living in San Isidro.

Your solicitor(!!) should be aware that NIEs are dealt with by the National Police and not by the Local Police!

Hi no that is not  true all you need is 800 euros in a Spanish bank and have your pensions paid to this account.to prove you can support yourself.

You will need to prove that you have enough income to satisfy the authorities that you won't become a burden on the state.

You will probably be asked to supply the last 3 months bank statements (from a Spanish bank) which shows you have had your income paid into that bank. Income of between €750 - €900 per person per month.

It was just perhaps the English way of saying , the local Police Station! I didn’t mean not the National! He just referred to the police station but probably meant the same as you say! Thanks anyhow.
