I contacted the spanish consulate in London yesterday to get an appointment for an NIE. They asked why i wanted one and when i said it was for holiday home and car purchase and to open a spanish bank account. The asked for evidence, to see a copy of the contract for the house and the car and a le...

I did warn about that in part 1 of my NIE guide - it's one of the consequences of Brexit.

I have asked them for a reason and am waiting for them to come back. This seems to have changed recently.

Many thanks for your reply

Good luck with your move! Sounds like you guys could do with a well earned break. All the best and hope everything works out 😀

Thank you Chris.

We need to start being kind to ourselves. I am 66 and my partner 10 years older. We are both fit as fleas at the moment and I work over 50 hours a week.

Life has been tough but everyone goes through difficult times, that is life.

So looking forward to our next  life chapter.

Thank you for your kindness

Hi, after checking the government's appointment website today we have again seen availability again of immediate appointments at the Alicante foreign office, and the only change from the previous format instead of selecting 'Police-EU Certificados exclusivamente para el Reino Unido, now indicates at the bottom the option 'Trámite para la documentación de nacionales del Reino Unido (Brexit)'

Interesting, Alfonso, thanks.

'Trámite para la documentación de nacionales del Reino Unido (Brexit)' will in context with this thread be the option for those seeking residency for the first time. Modelo EX-20

'Trámite documentación nacionales terceros países familiares de nacionales del Reino Unido (Brexit)' will be for non-EU/non-UK family members of UK citizens. Modelo EX-21???

'POLICÍA-EXP TARJETA ASOCIADA AL ACUERDO DE RETIRADA CIUDADANOS BRITANICOC Y SUS FAMILIARES (BREXIT)' will be for those of us who already have residency certificates. Modelo EX-23.

Indeed Jim it definitely seems to be like this. I have not yet been able to see updated information in the Official State Gazette BOE, but this is confirmed on the website of the 'Dirección General de la Policía' yesterday July 6

https://www.policia.es/ , and also the unified model residence of the residence permit

https://www.policia.es/documentacion/nuevo_formato_tie_permiso_residencia.pdf and futher instructions

Hi had a meeting yesterday with a solicitor, as it stands 18k euros as a couple, joint account, 9k single, monies need to be in a Spanish bank account at least three months, ideally with evidence you are spending money, but keeping the minimum amount required when you actually apply for residence.
